Roadtrek Motorhomes

Roadtrek might not be the first name that comes to mind when one thinks of motorhomes, but there a company with a long history that dates back to 1974.

Jac Hanemaayer became involved in many different business ventures, such as home construction, residential and commercial land development, packaging equipment importation and distribution, and advanced technology to separate liquids and solids. Yet, it was in 1974 that he became interested in recreational vehicles.

Jac liked the space of the Class A and the Class C motorhome, but he didn’t want to drive something that was as long as bus on the weekends. So, he turned to the van based Class B motorhome, yet, once again he wasn’t happy. He failed to find the sort of options and amenities that we wanted, so he built one for himself with the help of Home and Park Vehicles. After production was complete, Jac liked the final product so much that we bought the company. Hard to imagine a buyer of a Ford liking their Focus so much that they buy the company.

Soon, the company grew and new design innovations such as lower roofline and floor and a three-section floor plan found there way into the Roadtrek machines. Jac still participates in the development of these vehicles, but his son Jeff is the real brain behind the corporation at this point and time. Jeff started as a summer student, before making his way up the commercial ladder. Today, he is the Roadtrek Chairman and has helped the company grow massively in the 1980s and the 1990s. In fact, the company grew so big that they become the best selling North American Class B motorhome.

In 1993, the company moved from their 50,000 square foot plant to a 120,000 square foot plant that would help Roadtrek increase production capacity, lower manufacturing costs, improve product quality and enhance customer service. In 2006, Roadtrek built its 20,000th class B motorhome, a massive achievement for an RV manufacturer.

Roadtrek motorhomes designs have always focused on a few basic principals. The fist was comfort and Roadtrek helped lead the way in the Class B market with lumbar supports in the front seats, ample legroom, a large panoramic windshield and oversized windows. The interior features a forward facing seating and swivel captains chairs and a bathroom, separate eating and sleeping sections. All Chevrolet models feature a shower in the aisle, something that other models wouldn’t even consider offering.

If you still aren’t sure about a Roadtrek, the company offers rentals that can be picked up in either California or Michigan. We understand that most won’t be able to rent one of these machines due to the fact that there only offered in two states, but believe us when we say it will be worth it. No other Class B motorhome offers the same sort of space and the same sort of quality that Roadtrek motorhomes does.

These Chevrolet-based models have managed to accomplish Jac’s dream, as they offer up the same sort of amenities as a Class A, but in a smaller package.
